Shanghai Mitsubishi Elevator Co., Ltd. (SMEC) is a large Sino-foreign-funded elevator enterprise. It was established on January 1, 1987. The joint venture is composed of Shanghai Mechanical & Electrical Industry Co., Ltd., (52%), Mitsubishi Electric Corporation(32%), China National Machinery Import & Export Corporation(8%), and Mitsubishi Electric (Hong Kong) Ltd(8%). The Chinese side made the investment of 60%, and the foreign side 40%. SMEC currently has more than 2, 000 employees. SMEC has maintained a leading market position in the Chinese elevator industry for 23 consecutive years by utilizing the world′s advanced technology, adhering to independent innovation, and pursuing excellent management.
